It is very often wondered why atheists even think about religion. Why do atheists care about religion if they aren't religious, why can't they just leave the religious alone and let people believe what they want? 'Active' atheists come across this type of attitude all the time from religion-defenders and I want to very briefly tell you why.
If religious beliefs didn't result in murderous atrocities, negative judgement, rash beliefs about the world, cruelty among different cultures and an arrogant viewpoint, then atheists would not be so annoyed and cautious about religious dogma. But, we cannot hide from that list. Religion is responsible for many wars, vicious acts in history, unlawful justice and so on.
To actually realise the cruel views and acts that are committed by religious followers, in the name of their texts, is not to be ignored - yet, by many it is ignored. Atheists prefer to live in a world, among our fellow human beings, without the concern of theocratic terror and dogmatic views. There are many reasons why atheists criticise religion; they are either relating to politics, society, individuality or science. And, awareness needs to be raised if we would like to see humans progress rather than transgress.
