Science is a subject of knowledge that involves major worldwide support and only the tenacious will attempt so hard to ignore the work of science, holding onto subjective views that they cannot emotionally survive without. Science is not only a fascinating field to appreciate, but the information within science contain the use of reason and logic over irrationality and senselessness. Science can be considered unexciting and uninteresting as a result of countless, repetitively tedious lessons within the classroom (from my own experience) – this gives science a bad reputation for some children in education, but I will not go into further detail on that issue in this essay as I will save it for another. The main focus on this essay relates to why science is an evidently fascinating subject; emphasising the pursuit of truth.
Science is Concluded Empirically
Empirical evidence (based on, concerned with or verifiable by observation or experience rather than theory or pure logic) is imperative when forming a conclusion to prove theories in the realm of science. The mere fact that science looks at observational evidence for validity is reason to appreciate the hard work constructed within the scientific domain and without the determination to compile evidence, then facts are hard to prove (unless one uses mathematical means and this type of evidence can still somewhat be considered empirical). Science is Enlightening Science is often dismissed by the general public simply because some find it uninteresting, or because it argues a person’s subjective views on nature. Just like much of religious texts, certain areas of science are selected to satisfy ones delicately personal interests – the notion surrounding “two pathways to truth” (science and religion) becomes the popular excuse. But, science not only contradicts primitive religious notions about the universe, science is factual and to learn such facts enables us to be enlightened, open-minded and progressive.
Science Anticipates Continuous Discovery
We have a lot to learn about the universe, the earth that we inhabit, the formation of life and so forth. Scientists comprehend that we do not know all the answers and we may never know all the answers but finding out as much as we can is worthwhile if we desire to see a progressive change in society. Religious doctrines assume the answers are visible by simply reading nonsensical texts written millennials ago although such notions represented in the texts were never observed, tested or fathomed. Whilst merely using contemporary science we can understand the questions us social animals, evolved complex thinkers have been asking since our emergence on this earth. There is so much to unravel and this is one of many reasons to love science since it can provide the best observable evidence to prove what science aims to discover. Science is Objective Subjective thought and personal feelings are dismissed in science as it acts as a blockade to finding the answers to what scientists ask. Unlike religion, superstition, astrology and et cetera, the work of scientists do not allow personal perception blind realities – if something is disproved then it is added to the list of impossibilities. Scientists and science enthusiasts ensure their minds are flexible to anything within the realm of science, regardless of how evident a theory may be. Another huge highlight as to why the objectivity of science is loveable is the capability to change one’s mind – something irrational dogma does not emphasise. If a hypothesis is proven incorrect or contradictory to another then a scientist will forthright state it. I would go full length to state that free-thinking is compulsory throughout science and without the necessity of a fresh thinking mind; much of what we understand about the world would still be obsolete. Science is Fulfilling Truly, science does better the world as it enables us to understand it and use it to our own advantage. And this advantage-taking aspect within us human beings has helped us prevail for thousands of years. But, science isn’t solely a distinctive field when discussing careers; it also gives scientists – and science enthusiasts – the enjoyment of understanding the truths over the falsehoods. Just like an actor likes to act or a musician likes to make music, scientists like to answer questions; although using empiricism, reason and evidence rather than the contrary. For those who accept the facts gathered by science, it is truly fascinating to let one’s open-mind persist and to witness discovery after discovery! References Definition of “empirical”
